Well, welcome to a special episode of the Breakpoint podcast.

We call it a bonus episode because every once in a while something pops up and we want to go deeper on a particular topic or something that just seems to be cosmically important for the body of Christ in this cultural moment.

And I think we're there. I think we're there coming out of the election, the inauguration, a flurry of activity that's

happened that many conservatives and many Christians would see is good news, right?

It's good when a government actually is acknowledging that people are only male and female

and not a whole wide array of

made up genders. It's great when there is a protection for children against harmful ideologies

related to those bad ideas and parental involvement and parental protections are restored. The concern is that all of this was done

by executive order, which means in four years, all of this can be undone by executive order.

It's crazy when we've entered an era where many of us live under a system in which the state

is the one defining what it means to be human.

That's not the state's job. The state's job is to reflect it. Now, don't get me wrong,

this government needed to do that. It needed to unwork all the different confusions that were

put in. But that's just an example. It's an example of kind of where we're at in what our friend

Oz Guinness calls a civilizational moment. And I think what that means is on a civilizational

level, the norms have changed. The norms have shifted under our feet to such a degree that

we feel pretty unstable. We might feel pretty stable right now, but I mean,

just remind everyone three weeks ago, four weeks ago, five weeks ago, it didn't feel that

stable at all. And if it feels stable because our guy is in the office or our political position

is going forward, and there's not a cultural bulwark.

There's not anything else to bolster and sustain and support the vast changes.

Back to common sense, then it's really vulnerable.
