So everybody's trying to figure out how to set up the new 16 team big 12 when it starts up in

0:05.6

2024. And we've got the answers for you. I've got them at heartlandcollege sports.com. I'm Pete Mundo.

0:12.1

Thanks for joining us as we cover the big 12. I mean, a year ago we were covering 10 teams.

0:18.0

Now we're about to cover 14 teams. I thought next year we'd cover 12 teams and instead we're going to be covering 16 teams. Now we're about to cover 14 teams. I thought next year we'd cover 12 teams and instead

0:23.4

we're going to be covering 16 teams. So we got to grow the staff. How do we grow the staff?

0:29.5

You support the show. What does that mean? You subscribe to the show. You hit the like button.

0:34.9

You do whatever it takes to help us grow the show because the more we grow the show, the more we can invest in the outlet and the operation, which we have to do with 16 teams coming in next year.

1:02.0

that will make it easy. Or I would say as easy as possible for everybody involved to have as

1:09.5

little travel as possible, saving money, protecting

1:14.0

the student athletes as much as you can, and then of course the coaches and the staff as well.

1:18.6

So here's what I would do.

1:19.6

I would create four travel pods in a 16 team conference.

1:25.0

Now what that means is they're not divisions. They don't include any standings of

1:30.7

their own. You're still going to have, I believe, one through 16. I would not have east-west divisions.

1:36.1

I wouldn't do anything like that. This would just be for scheduling purposes. It wouldn't be for

1:40.9

standings. It would just be for scheduling purposes where you have these four pods set up for 16 teams in the Big 12 conference.

1:48.6

And here's how I would break up the pods. I'd have the West Pod, which is Utah, BYU, Arizona, and Arizona State.

1:58.9

Then I would put on the Southwest Pod, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State.

2:07.3

The Heartland Pod, see what I did there.
