Summary

Last month, U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez of San Diego struck down California’s Assault Weapon Ban, for the second time. His decision is being appealed to the 9th Circuit, which will probably overturn his ruling, for the second time. While we wait to see if this thing makes it to the Supreme Court, let's go over some of the best arguments in his excellent ruling, the unhinged response to his ruling, and some other stuff going in in the gun rights space this month.

0:09.8	So it is once again time for us to do a quick recap of stuff going on in the legal sphere.

0:30.1	Now, you probably are on the political newsletter that T-R-R-X-R-R-S sends out somewhat sporadically, as there is news.

0:55.5	pointed out that I should have mentioned that some of the lawsuits that have been brought by
1:02.3	various plaintiffs in California against the state of California should be mentioned, specifically
1:07.4	Reno May. And it completely slipped my mind to include him because I have been following him on the internet just as a content creator, as a gun-tuber.
1:18.6	But it should be noted that Reno-May guns is not just a YouTube channel, it's a guy who has gone to bat for rights, gun rights, in this country, and specifically in the state of California.
1:31.4	So I do want to give credits where it is due. Being a plaintiff in one of these cases is not simple. It is not easy.
1:39.3	So kudos to Reno May and others who have been standing up to their own governments and calling them to account.
1:49.3	And kudos to those judges who are applying the law properly and applying the precedent
1:55.3	handed down by the Supreme Court in that Bruin decision.
1:59.7	So let's get to our main story. Benitez is a guy who has handed down a number of
2:06.0	pro-gun freedom rulings, but almost all of his rulings have been squashed by the Ninth Circuit.
2:14.5	He has struck down the assault weapons ban before.
2:17.8	He also has struck down magazine bans.
2:20.4	He is the reason that we actually had Freedom Week.
2:24.1	There was an entire week in which the magazine ban in California had been overturned.
