Summary

The Locked On Vols podcast is your daily show covering Tennessee football, brought to you by Josh Ward. Tennessee had some bad news late last week: tight end Austin Pope will be out a while because of back surgery, and defensive lineman Emmit Gooden is off the team because of a domestic assault arrest. How will UT replace them? That's segment No. 1. Then Josh talks to Dave Matter, who wrote this column last week for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports explains why he thinks they'll be able to play football this fall. Today's show is presented by RockAuto.com Interested in advertsing with Locked On Vols? Tennessee will do with those personnel

items that they have to deal with now heading into the 2020 season. That'll be here in segment

happen this fall. Of course, when I talk about Tennessee's football team for 2020, I'm going to

1:04.9

talk with the assumption that a season takes place. And I continue to be optimistic that they're

1:09.6

going to do everything they can

1:10.8

to make a season happen. But more things need to happen. There have been some guidelines put out by

1:16.3

the NCAA here in the last week. I'm going to talk to Dave Matter. It's a conversation that we

1:21.6

recorded on Friday. Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, he covers Missouri and SEC football,

1:26.9

and wrote a column on what's going on with the NCAA behind the scenes.

And I have been critical of what went on in the spring months and the early summer months to where I think here in the last few weeks, they decided we better do something here or we really are in trouble of the football season not taking place.

1:44.8

The NFL, I don't think it's in a desperate situation, but the NFL saw all of its players

1:49.9

of the weekend come out and say, hey, we've wasted time here. We need to start making some decisions

1:54.1

on what needs to happen to make sure football happens this fall. So I'm going to remain bullish on
