April, and April showers bring May flowers. You've heard the saying. But April also brings

the IRS, because yes, it is that time of year again. It is tax season. And for the most

part, tax season has been a season that I have dreaded my entire adult life. One, because

we are not taught anything about taxes in school. Like I remember sitting in math class,

getting the Pythagorean theorem drilled into my head. Let me tell you, I've never not

once used that as an adult. I remember being in English class, being taught what a past

participle is, how to write a five paragraph essay, how to build a bibliography. You know,

in biology class, learning that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. I have never

not used any of that information as a human being in the adult world. But I really could have

used a quick 101 on how to file a tax return without accidentally committing tax fraud.

But of course, we don't teach personal finance in public schools because, you know, why would

we make it make sense? And unfortunately for us, for a lot of us, that means when it comes

to these key adult moments or key moments around our finances, a lot of us feel a lot

of stress because we don't know if what we're doing is the right thing. So I thought today

it would be really, really cool to walk through exactly how taxes work because I think there's

a lot of misconception around that. And then we can actually talk a little bit more about

how to lower your tax bill. And last but not least, we'll close out with a fun filled

what if situation of what happens if we don't pay our taxes? All right, cool. So let's get
