Welcome to episode 2 of From My Inbox to Your Ears.

In this episode, we're going to read an email to Gary from Justin, and then listen

in on a phone call that Gary had with him.

Gary, I've been incredibly blessed, but I lack perspective.

You see, I've been aphidate from being born into a stable, well off family, but I've

always struggled with depression, ADD, and crippling social anxiety.

The frequent bullying I experienced growing up didn't help with that either.

Years down the road, as an adult and parent myself, I was thrust into an impossible situation

when trying to rescue people from a burning car wreck on the street near my house.

I had seconds to make a decision on who lived and who died.

There was only time to save one of the people in the accident.

Either a father was going to lose a son, or a son was going to lose a father.

In the aftermath of that decision, I struggled with PTSD and further exacerbated my depression

and anxiety.

During the ensuing years, nothing worked, not medication, not even three years of counseling.

And while I was running a successful agency and checking all the boxes, my marriage suffered

greatly.

On top of that, we experienced another family crisis that left my wife and I reeling.

She was able to get the support she needed, but I was frustrated and bitter about the

hand that I was dealt, despite my many blessings.
