On this date in 8064, the Great Fire of Rome broke out.

According to the Roman Historian Tacitus, the fire was

sparked in a part of town concentrated with flammable goods and quickly

spread by high winds. Over the course of the next week and a half, two-thirds

of the Eternal City was left in ashes.

This was the stuff of nightmares.
