I have a question referring about 1st Corinthians chapter 15 and verse 29 about it says else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead if the dead rise not at all why are they then baptized for the dead and i was wondering why we, if we aren't being baptized for the dead or which dead

I know it's the basis for the idea of proxy baptism or being baptized for the dead in the Mormon

religion. But Christians reject that idea, the idea that you can be baptized on behalf of someone

And so what exactly is Paul getting at here?
