This week I reached that long-awaited finish line on the last of this round of edits on Dreamlander.

I've launched it on its cyberspace journey to my editor and a couple critters, and I'm breathing a big

wish of relief. After celebrating with cookies and cream ice cream, and the binge on new

soundtracks for writing music, I've decided to also take a few days off, maybe even as much

as a couple of weeks, to rest the old brain before diving into a revision of my historical

novel, The Deepest patiently waiting on the shelf.

Deepest's revisions shouldn't be too intensive, aside from strengthening and clarifying some details

of the character's arcs.

I am contemplating switching it from third-person present tense to third-person past tense, so that could turn it into a bigger project than I had anticipated.

At any rate, I feel like I need a little time to recharge my batteries before diving into another edit.

The question is, what is an obsessive one-track-minded writer type supposed to do when she's

not writing.

Don't betray your character in your climax.

spectacle rather than character in the third act.
