0:21.4

defensive ends and outside linebackers coach, Jamar Kane, to tell us all we need to know

0:26.5

about Patriots third round pick, Ronnie Perkins. We're also going to give you a quick update on what

0:31.6

we've last seen from Patriots OTAs, give you a little update on some of the young players and what

0:36.6

they've been doing out on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium.

0:39.8

Lots to get to.

0:40.6

But first, let's just get right into this interview with Jamar Kane from Oklahoma because he's going to tell you why Ronnie Perkins is an alpha.

0:48.2

He's going to tell you where Ronnie Perkins was sleeping to let you know just how hard Ronnie Perkins is going to be working as a pro.

0:55.2

And he's going to tell you why Ronnie Perkins is the perfect fit for this specific program,

1:00.6

not just on the field, but off the field.

1:03.7

And the style of coaching he's going to encounter here in New England,

1:06.8

and why that's going to be just fine with him.

1:10.1

Rare to find that these days in 2021.

1:12.8

With that, let's send it to our interview with Jamar Kane.

1:20.6

All right, very excited to have with us now, Oklahoma defensive ends and outside linebackers coach, Jamar Kane.

1:26.5

Jamar, thank you so much for being with us, my friend. I appreciate you guys having me. Well, we have Yon, for a very obvious, very specific reason, Ronnie Perkins, I think one of the favorite draft picks among Patriots fans, because this sounded like a guy, this is a guy we talked about before the draft, Jamar, maybe being, I don't know,

1:44.9

a late second round pick, top of the third. The Patriots end up getting him almost in the fourth

1:49.6

at the very bottom of the third round there. So it feels like a steal. But you tell us what kind of

1:54.3

player are the Patriots getting in Ronnie Perkins? They're getting an alpha. I told every team that

1:59.6

like you're getting a true alpha male.

2:01.4

And not one of those guys that's going to come in and think he's better than everybody, but you know, just get a guy that's going to come in there and work. And he's not going to shy away from contact, shy away from doing the dirty work. And he's going to put all the extra effort in and learning the system and being the best player you possibly can. but you get a true alpha, though, like a kid who really loves football because Roddy loves football. Like, if you take football away from Roddy, you take a half the person away. Like, he loves football. Like, he eat and breathe football. And he used to sit on this couch right here all the time, fall asleep, watching the film in my office all the time. Like that was how much Ronnie loves football. And talk about devotion, falling asleep. Hopefully you had that picture of him on the wall behind you as he was falling asleep. That could lead to some good dreams probably for Roddy Berkins, as he's, you know, imagining getting down. He had to earn the right to get on the wall. So once he got drafted, I had to get his picture up. But this was his pillow right here.

2:52.3

So he was just falling asleep right on this couch, watching film every day.
