Hey, good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Tuesday. This is Seattle now. During the pandemic,

a lot of doctors and nurses struggled with their mental health.

A new study from UW medicine turned to psilocybin as a potential antidote to COVID despair.

Dr. Anthony Bach led the study. He's here to talk about what he found.

But first, let's get you caught up.

A King County judge will rule this afternoon on the proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons. Washington State filed a lawsuit to block the $25 billion plan. The retailers

say the merger is critical to their survival. The state says it will reduce competition

and lead to higher prices.

If the deal goes through, Kroger and Albertsons will sell off nearly 600 stores, including

124 here in Washington State.

Last spring, paramedics with the Seattle Fire Department started administering buprenorphine to people dependent on opiates. It's a drug used to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

The pilot program authorized by the State Department of Health was the first in the nation.

This morning, at 11, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell will join city and state leaders to give an update on how it's going.

Chemistry today. He won the award for his work designing new proteins, not found in nature.
