Many of us have a daily practice of some kind.

It might be getting in all your steps for that day or journaling or taking time for meditation.

Some play an instrument or a sport, but typically we practice something because we want to improve our capacity to do it. For Christian scientists, daily practice is a way of life,

born of perceiving ourselves as entirely spiritual. Ask any Christian scientist about their daily

practice, and they might point to a wide

variety of things, studying the Bible lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, praying to

better understand God, being active in their Christian Science branch church, etc. But a truly

scientific practice requires something more. We may not always feel spiritually

on fire when we sit down to study or when we attend church. But as we delve more deeply into how

we can follow today what Jesus taught and lived, it will not only bring good into our lives, but will

have a far-reaching effect. Jesus' example shows that as we practice living what we know of God,

it naturally overflows to bless and even heal others. This characterizes scientific Christian practice.

It requires surrendering self-will, fear, and human outlining to the pure activity of expressing

God. It means responding to life's demands not from habit or emotion, but from the

stillness of spiritual perception. It's approaching any ordinary moment from the sanctity of this

spiritual perception. I once got a call from a friend as I was preparing to conduct my branch

church's weekly service. Ideas I'd been inspired by all morning were naturally shared throughout

the conversation. A week later, she wrote to say she'd been healed of something she hadn't even
