Today, allegations of Chinese government interference in the UK

in a trail of suspicious money across British politics.

Last week, British MPs received a rare warning from MI5.

MI5 has issued a rare alert about a named individual, warning MPs of a woman who's been working

as an agent for the Chinese state.

It's called an interference alert, and Britain's counterintelligence and security agency had never

issued one like this.

They were warned, Ms Lee had been working with an arm of the Chinese Communist Party

to covertly interfere in UK politics.

And that is a first, and these are quite upfront warnings.

It names the individual as an ill photograph and a description of everything about it.

So this is about as public a device MI5 could have used without sticking it up on its website.

For years, a British Chinese solicitor was donating money to British MPs.

In one case, paying for staff inside a shadow minister's office,

and even winning awards from the Prime Minister for her services to the community.

Now MI5 claim she was a clearinghouse for Chinese government money,

aimed at interfering in UK politics.
