Ha, so is that. Wow, you Smarty Pants sure love animated movies and TV shows.

I also absolutely love animation.

Animation? I thought we were talking about cartoons.

We are. Well, sort of. You see, all cartoons are animations, but not all animations are cartoons.

I'm confused. Can I have some more cereal?

Sure, help yourself. But let me explain.

Animation refers to a technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of models to create the illusion of movement when the film is shown as a sequence.

Cartoons, on the other hand, can either refer to a single drawing or a television program or film made using animation techniques.

So it's sort of like the fact that all dogs are dogs, but not all dogs are crime fighting detectives like me.
