All right, everybody. Welcome to the Mark series, Part 39. We're going to be talking about

pastoral abuses, among other things, but really we're focused on this section in Mark

chapter 10, verse 35 through 45 where Jesus is teaching

The thing that I think would stop pastoral abuses I want to give us a understanding of this passage verse by verse because that's what this is.

But today let me give you a quick overview of what we're going to cover.

So not only Mark chapter 10 versus 35 through 45, but also a supposed contradiction.

Some say that there's a contradiction in this passage.

And I don't always cover these because it would take up a lot of time to deal with all the supposed

contradictions but I'm going to deal with one today. I also want us to understand this passage in

context that when we look at this with the overall flow of Mark will see that this issue of

pastoral abuse is not only a character problem amongst many pastors when they're

being abusive in a variety of fashions.

But, and there's hope for you, if that's you, you can change.

And I want to give you that hope today.

But also, this attitude and the actions of abusive pastors is it's bigger than just the single action of abuse.

It shows that they're misunderstanding the very nature of the kingdom of God that Jesus

labored so hard to change our view of because of the false

expectations they had about the Messiah the the things that led to that and that leads
