Summary

How I Use Storytelling And AI To Build A Newsletter That Converts You know that moment when something in your business just clicks, like you’ve finally found your thing? That’s exactly how I feel about my newsletter right now. What used to be a quick weekly email to promote my podcast has become one of my favorite (and most profitable) parts of my business. And trust me, as someone who never considered herself a “storyteller,” I did not see this coming. In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on how I completely reimagined my newsletter from a basic email to a storytelling-driven, data-backed strategy that brought in over $300,000 during my most recent launch. I share exactly how I structure it, how I use AI as a creative partner (without losing my voice), and why writing it myself reconnected me to the heart of my message. If you’ve ever wondered how to breathe life into your email list or build stronger connections with your audience, this episode will show you what’s possible when you blend storytelling, strategy, and heart. HERE ARE THE 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE: 1️⃣ Your Newsletter Can Be A Business Growth Engine – When I stopped treating my newsletter like a checklist task and started treating it like a relationship builder, everything changed. It became more personal, more valuable, and (surprisingly!) more profitable.  2️⃣ Storytelling Builds The Strongest Connection (And The Best Conversions) – Every newsletter I send starts with something real from my life that ties back to a business lesson. It’s the bridge between what I teach and what my audience feels, and it’s why people actually look forward to opening my emails. 3️⃣ AI Can Help You Find Clarity, But Connection Still Takes Time – I use ChatGPT as a creative partner to refine my stories and find the meaning behind them. But I still write every word with intention because automation can’t replace authenticity.  RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Join my newsletter to get real strategy, zero fluff, and plenty of behind-the-scenes magic in your inbox every Tuesday! amyporterfield.com/newsletter  Catch up on Episode 8 with Jay Schwedelson: How to Write Subject Lines That People Actually Notice  Learn more about my Made to Scale Mastermind Check out Kit’s Creator Network and Substack  MORE FROM ME Follow me on Instagram @amyporterfield SUBSCRIBE & REVIEW If you loved this episode, please take a moment to subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! Hey there, welcome to the Amy Porterfield Show.

When I look at my top performing newsletters overall, there's a really clear pattern.

0:17.2

The ones that perform the best, the ones that get the highest open rates and the most clicks

0:22.8

are always the most human. Your personal story is the most powerful business strategy that you have.

0:34.3

You know when something in your business just lights you up, like you finally found your thing?

0:40.4

Well, that's how I feel about my newsletter right now.

0:44.2

So since launching the new version back in April, it's truly become one of my most favorite

0:51.6

things that I get to create each week. And that's saying a lot because if you've been

0:55.9

in my world for a while, you probably know this about me, which is I don't consider myself a great

1:02.2

writer. Writing doesn't come easy to me and I don't really enjoy sitting down to write. It just takes

1:10.0

a long time and I just am a little self-conscious about

1:14.0

it. And so that's one of the reasons why I started a podcast instead of a blog because I started

1:20.2

with a blog and I'm like, I'm never going to continue this over and over again. Podcasting for me

1:25.5

is a whole lot easier. So for a long time, though,

1:28.4

I had a newsletter. I really didn't call it a newsletter. It was like a broadcast I sent out

1:33.0

every Thursday. And I sent it out on the day that my podcast episode was going to come out.

1:39.0

Now my podcast comes out every Tuesday. But for a long time, it was every Thursday. So every

1:44.1

single week on Thursday,

1:45.2

I'd send out a quick email sharing the latest podcast episode and inviting people to tune in.

1:51.5

Here's where things get a little bit embarrassing. Two things, actually. Number one, I shouldn't say

1:57.2

embarrassing. The first thing is, this worked for me for a really long time.

2:01.7

And if I didn't send out that email, my downloads would go down that week. Like the email
