All right, everybody, welcome back to another edition of the Untitled Jeff Gluck podcast.

I'm your host, Jeff Gluck, and today it is the first edition of a brand new feature I am doing starting this year.

It's called How I Got Here.

Basically, I would like to know how people in the NASCAR industry got to where they are, how they made it, what they had to do to get there, what's their backstory, what advice would they have for people, who gave them their big break.

And I asked NASCAR if Steve O'Donnell, who many of you are familiar with from his Twitter interactions with fans, would be willing to be the first episode.

And they said, yes, so I'm very excited about that because I think he has an interesting backstory.

I had heard the podcast he did last year with Nate Ryan from NBC Sports, and he talked somewhat

about his youth years growing up in Egypt at times, away from his home in New Jersey. His dad had been over there,

so the family was over there. That was interesting. But how did he get into NASCAR? That's what I want to

know. And fortunately, he was willing to sit down and answer some of those questions.

All right, everybody. I'm here with Steve O'Donnell. Steve, thank you so much for being the first

guinea pig for this new segment. No, it's awesome. I follow everything you do, love your

enthusiasm for the sport, so happy to do it. Awesome. So a lot of people know who you are and

obviously interact with you on Twitter and things like that, but I don't know if a lot of people

know your story, and I don't really even know your story of how you got started in NASCAR and,

you know, what your path was to this point. First of all, could you start off and just people

know your position and your title, but what is your role, like what's your day-to-day job in NASCAR

that you do? Yeah, so day-to-day job in NASCAR that that you do yeah so so day-to-day

i guess um i'm up in our concord office and oversee our research and development competition

group so you know really all the the rules and regulation of the sport so kind of what goes on

during a weekend and then all the the the marketing and sales and promotion would be obviously under a

separate group with Steve Phelps. So great team of people and I guess task day to day with,
