He's been there for 20 years, as he will explain to the podcast.

I had not met Ricky before doing this interview, but I had asked NASCAR, you know, who's an official that has a good story, that has an interesting career path, and they set me up to talk with Ricky on race day at Kansas Speedway, right when the garage opened.

So I appreciate him taking time out of his schedule to do that.

I always see the NASCAR officials in the garage, but don't really know how they become

a NASCAR official in the first place or where they get their start.

So I wanted to make sure I included some of them in the series this year.

This is the first one.

So let's hear how Ricky Kyle got to where he is at NASCAR.

Can you, first of all, tell me what your job right now with NASCAR entails.

What do you do on a weekend?

On a weekend, starting on Friday morning, we do inspection on all the series that's racing that weekend.

I'm in the safety department, and we do all the safety on the cars and trucks,

Exfinity, and Monster Cup.

So you're going around and you're basically checking to make sure that they're

compliant with the safety rules and things like that?
