And then just to make you a little familiar with the courtroom, we have the microphones there and just speak up and you're up right at the microphones.

You tell us how old you are now.

I am 12 years old.

It's 1990 in the town of Mansfield, Ohio.

And Collier Landry, a bright, precocious 12-year-old, sits on the witness stand in front of a full courtroom.

Collier seems undaunted, up to the task at hand,

but he's about to come face to face with the unspeakable tragedy

that's torn his family apart.

This is the story of that family,

a story that starts innocently enough.

We arrived in this very small town and it was a very big deal for my father to come there because they didn't really have doctors that were in town.

So having a handsome doctor with a beautiful wife and a son was a big deal for the community.

Mansfield is very slice of Americana, Midwestern, very red, very religious, very Christian.
