Well, I've shared the story of how I became a minimalist several times about hearing a podcast

by Joshua Becker, his neighbor mentioning, hey, did you know you don't have to have all this

stuff? And basically, that's all I needed to hear, and I started getting rid of 80% of our stuff.

But a story that I don't share as frequently is how I got into YouTube accidentally.

dedicated to minimalism and simple living.

So our family became minimalist about seven years ago.

At the time, we had four kids, ages four and under.

I was drowning in stuff.

And truly, over the course of that year,

when we got rid of 80% of our stuff, it was such a relief. And during that time, I also,

I think I found a new sense of self-confidence. I was figuring out life as a mom and a wife.

And it felt like things started to fall into place.

A couple years later, we'd move on to our farm. And at that time, I committed to Tom that I would

create some kind of income source to help offset our mortgage. And I had started my blog a couple

years before. And it had times, especially during the holidays where it would do well, but mostly it wasn't

a reliable source of income.

And so I was selling real estate.

And I enjoyed selling real estate.

I especially liked the marketing side of it.

I liked the people.
