A guy with a pretty similar story to me. He started out in pro sports, specifically golf,

stuff. And he's also a member of M19. So I'm here today to talk to Bill Faith. What's up, man? How are you? Thanks for having me. Yeah. The big difference is you got good hair. I mean, I've got 52-year-old hair. So let's get that out there right off the bat. Well, you know, I'm 36, so we'll see you at 52. But it looks good. Looking at my dad's hair, he's in his 60s and he's still got a full head.

Nice.

So good genetics. But, dude, I was just talking to before, like online, you're a short-term rental guy. And then, you know, when you were talking to us about M-19, you're like, yeah, you know, I played professionally like 25 years ago. I'm like, bro, this is awesome. Real estate guy, X-Pro. And then you're like, yeah, but I've also started like 40 companies and exited 30 of them.

And I was like, bro, this is awesome. Real estate guy, ex-pro. And then you're like, yeah, but I've also started like 40 companies and exited 30 of them. And I was like, whoa, I want to hear about what you got going on because clearly you had to be an entrepreneur while you were playing sports and everything else. You know, I think it probably comes from my mother who was actually a teacher. I grew up in Bakersold, California. But she bought made her first and only entrepreneurial venture when I was a sophomore in high school. And I was just

starting to get good at golf. So she was probably making 35K, maybe 30,000 as a teacher. This is like

1983, 1985. And she bought a preschool. And that was kind of, I mean, I had to help her with everything with that. You know, I didn't have a father. They'd been, they got divorced and I was like four years old. Got it. So I remember sitting at the dining room table and, you know, her drafting P&Ls and doing everything on a ledger. That was kind of my first introduction to the entrepreneurial world. And I think it just stuck with me.

1:44.9

Yeah. Somehow I ended up with a school. I don't even know how that happened either.

1:48.7

Yeah. And, you know, it's funny because then later on, after I'd done a few startups, I became a

college golf coach at Cal State Bakersfield. Oh, you did? I did. So I was an athlete.

1:58.6

What years were you there? One of my friends went there. I didn't. I was the coach there from 97 to 2001. Okay, got it. And they just started the program. We were Division II, played a full D1 schedule, and then figured out, you know, I don't really want to live the rest of my life, making $7,500 a year as a golf coach. Wow. You just can't do that. I mean, it's strictly the labor of love. Yep. But I got introduced to that entrepreneurial deal with my mom. I started selling T-shirts at high school football games, my junior and senior year to help pay for us, for me to be able to travel around playing like the AJGA and junior worlds and all that type of stuff. And that's when I kind of did my first thing on my own and she taught me about the business side. You know, when you're 17, 18, 19, you have no idea about that. And I just kept going. I didn't really do much while I played professional golf. I did one venture. I started

2:51.4

Bel Aqua bikinis. I played in South America, stay with the family. I started drop shipping

2:56.1

and had a major catastrophe. Actually, my best friend growing up, John, was running the inventory

3:02.6

that we were warehousing in my apartment outside of drop shipping and he screwed up like a hundred deliveries.

3:10.5

So we're talking like back then it was all black on the bottom, black on top for women, right?

3:15.4

And it was a small and small.

3:16.9

There was no mix and match.

3:18.8

Essentially, we revolutionized the industry because he screwed up probably $10,000 worth of orders.

3:25.4

And then we had to come back and start resending stuff, readjust the website, and basically mix and match everything.

3:31.6

And it didn't exist. That led to me getting acquired by Venus swimwear after.
