engaging your employees, culture, that stuff didn't used to matter 50 years ago like it does now.

And now it's becoming a requirement. And gamification dovetails perfectly into that.

Gamification is about pushing your culture in the direction you want it to go.

So small business owners are really good at getting ticked off and mad at employees when they don't do things correctly.

But they're pretty weak when it comes to rewarding people for doing the right things that they

want. Now, this is not a philosophy based on everybody gets a blue ribbon or everybody gets a

participation trophy. That's not what I'm talking about. And I think people get confused.

They're like, well, I'm not going to reward them for showing up to work on time. Okay, well, then don't reward them for showing up to work on time.

But what it does is it's a subtle way to get everybody in the boat rowing in the same direction,

focused on the same things. And it's kind of just the way that it is right now. It's powerful.

It makes it harder for people to hide in your organization who are underperforming.

It makes it easier for people to shine who are rock star A players.
