I am joined today by Mark Chisano. He is a Newsday journalist whose new book is called The Fabulous, The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos.

Mark Chazano, welcome to Kerr-A-Farres.

Thanks so much for having me. Glad to be here.

Your title is great for reading dramatically.

It was fun. You know, honestly, it took me a second to come up with it.

I had a really bad one at first, and then this one came and I was like, this is way

better. This is the way to go.

Well, there's a lot in here. There's lying hustling. There is, it will cover, lying, hustling, grifting, stealing.

It's kind of amazing that you got this book out so fast because obviously George Santos has only been on our radar for what seems like a fairly short amount of time.

But you've been covering him for about as long as anybody has been.

Pretty much. I'd been writing about him for Newsday. I actually wrote a piece about him when

he launched his campaign in 2020. It was just a little kind of blurb for our newsletter,

you know, kind of saying that he was running. The funny thing, though, was that, you know,

my editor said, give him a call. So I did. And I reached him and he says, oh, I'm launching my campaign today,

but I'm actually in Florida right now.

And that's where I'm doing it from.

It's like, okay, that's weird, you know.

Not the right way to do it.

Because he was not running in Florida.

And so-
