Today you're going to hear a conversation between me and my friend Tamara about the risk of letting perfectionism

control your behavior and how it can and eventually will manifest in sabotaging behavior.

I wanted to bring Tam on to talk about this specifically because over the course of a few months working together,

she had opened up to me about her own struggles with things like over training and not taking

action on things important to her and a few other interesting behaviors, which when we dove into them deeper, all were taking

place because of an underlying fear of failure. And I found it so relatable because I certainly

have struggled with fearing failure, more so in the beginning of my career, but it still comes up

now and then for sure. And I know a lot of you are dealing or will deal with this too. And the

interesting thing about it is most of the time when this is coming up for someone, it's not the

most obvious thing in the

world.

It's not like all of a sudden you're trying something new or you're pushing yourself out of

your comfort zone and you catch yourself thinking things like, oh, I'm acting this way because

deep down, I'm scared I'm going to fail.

No, that's what usually takes place for most of us is sabotaging behavior like

procrastination, perfectionism, overworking, underworking, right?

Like fear of failure can rear its head in many different forms.
