Summary

Tax is an increasingly taxing subject for many people who feel hard done by as Britain’s complicated system catches them out.

From quirks of the system, such as the 60 per cent tax trap and child benefit removal, to the childcare cliff edge, frozen thresholds, and pensions soon to be dragged into inheritance tax, there’s a whole host of things to drive us mad.

1:15.3	been having, well, rather a lot over the past few years with the people that he knows. And it's a
1:20.5	conversation that's going on in the upper echelons of power in the UK as the government try to think
1:26.6	how much more they can tax us. But we're hearing
1:29.7	more and more of the wealthy are upping sticks and heading off to more tax-friendly climbs. The middle
1:35.3	classes too fed up with frozen tax thresholds, rising council tax, eye-watering water bills. Increasing
1:41.5	train fares, the list goes on, might not be leaving the country,
1:45.1	but they are changing their financial behaviour, according to Lee, who's been looking into this.
