Summary

Existentialism is a philosophical framework that emphasizes personal choice and the creation of meaning in life. This belief is centered around the idea of freedom of choice, that we have the power to make choices in life, regardless of our circumstances. It also involves rejecting the victim mentality, taking control of our lives and making choices that positively impact us. Victor Frankel, a renowned psychiatrist, explored the idea of finding meaning in life through his book, "Man's Search for Meaning." He encouraged individuals to forge their own path and create meaning in their lives. Existentialism also touches on the concept of existence preceding essence, questioning our beliefs, embracing personal responsibility, authenticity, and recognizing the absurdity in life. Are you ready to unlock the power of personal choice and find deeper meaning in life? In this episode, we delve into how existentialism empowers individuals, especially Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), to embrace radical personal responsibility. Discover how mental health can be transformed through the freedom of choice and the journey of creating your own meaning. Okay. Hello, y'all. It's never one thing that heals a life, right? It's all the things.

But if I had to pick the one thing that gave me the solid framework to do my healing it,

These are not all of the ideas, but we're going to explore some of the ideas together.

1:04.0

And long-time listeners, I think y'all will absolutely be able to hear these principles, these themes, these threads that run throughout

1:13.3

my work. So those of you who are kind of ride or die listeners and listen to all the episodes,

1:20.7

you might learn that you might be more of an existentialist and you didn't even know it.

1:26.7

Okay. So existentialism doesn't have a clear definition, which,

1:33.3

believe it or not, is kind of the point, and I hope that'll make more sense as I continue.

1:39.1

The biggest themes are about owning personal choice and making meaning. So a big theme in existentialism is

1:48.1

freedom of choice. And this is the idea that no matter what, we have the power of choice.

1:55.5

There is a book called How Yoga Works, I read many, many years ago. And I kind of don't recommend it because

2:03.1

the translation I found not very inspiring to read. The translation kind of fell flat, but the story

2:10.9

is really golden. And it's a very existentialist story. It's about a man. He's a yogi, and he becomes confined to a prison cell.

2:23.3

And it's a story of how he makes the choice to be positive.

2:29.0

He makes the choice every single day to make the best of his experience.

2:38.1

Existentialism accepts that radical free choice is our personal power. I find it fascinating to think about that every moment we can choose

2:46.7

something. We can. We can speak or we can be quiet. We can run or we can stand still.

2:54.6

We can think something positive or we can think something self-deprecating. We can think something
