0:28.0	And we are talking about critical education theory or more formally critical pedagogy.
0:32.8	So this will be the second podcast in the formal series that might be quite long.
0:38.5	We'll see how this goes.
0:40.0	I'm doing dedicated to critical education theory or critical pedagogy, which is what's
0:46.0	at the heart of our schools.
0:47.6	As a matter of fact, what we're really focusing on is what's called the critical turn in education.
0:53.1	And so in the previous episode of this series, I read through the series editors introduction
1:00.2	and forward to a book by that title, the critical turn in education by Isaac Gottsman,
1:05.1	that I'm going to use as kind of a backbone to lay this out.
1:07.7	In this episode, I'm going to read through the authors introduction to the books.
1:11.6	So my goal is not to just read you a bunch of education books in the podcast, but I do
1:17.4	want to read these two introductions because the series editors, which I read in the last
1:24.1	episode in this series, a couple episodes ago here on the podcast, really gives you a picture
1:29.7	of what the thought process is within both Marxism in general, as it's evolved over the
1:38.0	last 120 years.
1:40.8	And in terms of how that's getting applied to education or in other words, critical pedagogy,
1:45.3	critical Marxism coming into education theory.
1:49.2	So just for those of you that are kind of new to this, again, pedagogy means theory of education.
1:55.8	And critical pedagogy is the actual name for what resulted from the so-called critical
2:01.2	turn in education in this book documents very effectively how education was turned from
