Here's another email we received. It says, Hey, Pastor Ben, I just saw you on secular talk. And what you were saying made sense to me. I am glad that you are a fellow Christian. I am a Baptist. In the South, it is especially hard because all of the Christians around here are Republicans and therefore pretty much racist or at least bigoted. My brother who believes that the USA,

a secular nation, is a Christian nation, just proved to me yesterday how racist he really was

when I was talking to him about the Muslim candidate for mayor of New York City, how they are trying to deport him.

He said, good, and assinuated that all Muslims make their

women wear burqas. One of the fathers of my two nieces is Muslim. He never made my sister wear a hijab

or anything like that. Two of my sisters were born in another country. How can I broach this subject

with him? That not only our our sisters but nieces and nephews

could be deported because of all of the craziness going on with ice without setting him off

and starting an argument i mean he claims to be a christian but i guess he forgot about the

parable of the good samaritan as well as the things that jesus preached such as love

your neighbor as you love yourself and other things of that nature my mom won't even listen to me

about these things because it causes too many fights i am outnumbered as a democrat more like a

moderate really by a bunch of far right-wing people who'd rather see

our country be controlled by a fascist dictator than be even slightly socialist. He also doesn't

understand what, quote, defunding the police means. He thinks that it means that there will be no police.

How can I explain these things to him gently without causing harm to our friendship slash

brotherhood and still get my point across?

I don't want to be like I'm right, you're wrong about this.
