I wanted a little bit advice on I am trying to reconnect with one of my sons who's 29 years old and he and I have been somewhat estranged for about three years now.

What happened to make the estrangement get put into place?

I would say it was mostly my fault and I've taken as much responsibility as I can I well how was it your fault what did you do or not do to help that happen.

What happened was I it was when covid had started and I went over to see my son and his wife and my granddaughter which I often do and did at that time.

And my girlfriend had a little itty bitty cough and I said to her why don't you stay home? I really didn't think she was sick or at all but I had an abundance of caution I said why don't you just stay home and I'll go make a visit with them and I went and had lunch with them and then a couple days later we found out my girlfriend was covid positive.

And my son and my daughter-in-law to put it mildly were very upset with me and I apologize I said I don't know how many times you could say you're sorry and I said in retrospect I would never have put anyone in any kind of danger that I just would do that.

Especially to my granddaughter and my grand my daughter-in-law was pregnant at the time.

Oh God.

Yeah so she she's not American she's just gotten her.

I don't care where she's from she's a mother the rest of it's not relevant.

If I had been pregnant and you came over with this girlfriend who I'd I'd throw you out of off a cliff at that time she was very scary people were dying.

Yes yes and I totally agree with you and I agreed with her and she ended up having the baby a few months later we had no contact and had no contact for about 13 months after that.

By the way did by the way did by the way did either one of them come down with covid or did you.

Now now that was none of us got covid they had it since then they did have it but not when they were around me.

In any regard about 13 months later my daughter-in-law reached out to me and you know asked me if I knew why they were so upset with me and I said I thought I did and I went back over what happened and she said well that's not all of it.

I said well what else did I do and she said that I had caused her so much stress that when she had the baby a few months later she had all kinds of complications and the baby had complications in the hospital and she attributed it to the stress I caused.

Okay and to that you said oh my god I'm so sorry.

I said I felt horrible I said I feel terrible that you feel that way.

That was a mistake that was a mistake that was a mistake to say that you feel that way that dismissed whether she was right or wrong if you want to make friends with her you don't dismiss her concern.

She had to make rational in her mind why they are complications and she probably was very hyper about the virus at that time and it would have been more gracious of you to say well thank God it turned out okay but not if you think you feel that way so did she after after she reached out to you and explained the rest of it did she then forgive you.
