And so suffering is the way how we determine whether

we really treasure God above everything

or whether that's just words we say.

Whatever we say about this subject

has to be able to face the fact that every good thing

that you have will one day be lost.

It'll be lost.

How do you think about that?

How do you orient towards that reality?

And so suffering does press on those deep places

of our soul because it shows how precious

the things of earth can be to us.
