I think there are lots of parents out there who recognize they have certain responsibilities

to provide nurture and care for their children, but they're not aware of their spiritual

responsibility.

In my opinion, one of the reasons we've seen such a drop-off over the last several decades

in church attendance is that many children were raised going to church, but the worship

of the church never made it into their home.

What do I mean by that?

I mean that there was a disconnect between what they were seeing and hearing on Sunday

and what they saw and heard Monday through Saturday in their houses with their parents.

A recent report from the Pew Research Center found that, quote, among adults who say they were raised in homes where religion was very important to their family,

24% say that religion is somewhat important to them today,

and an additional 20% say it is not too important or not at all important.
