| 1:07.6 | that were connecting lakes across the landscape. And so that's how we think |
| 1:11.9 | most fish ended up in newly formed lakes that followed the recession of the glaciers. And there are |
| 1:17.6 | situations. So if we look at little ponds and lakes in Australia that are embedded in deserts, |
| 1:23.2 | when we might show up there, we would see them as being really separated. But every now and then, there's really big rainstorms that cause flash flooding, |
| 1:31.1 | and all of a sudden all those little water bodies become connected, |
| 1:34.5 | and fish have evolved to disperse during those times. |
| 1:37.9 | So when there's high flows, they'll start moving and end up back in lakes |
| 1:41.5 | that they might have gone extinct from before. |
| 1:49.2 | Music and end up back in lakes that they might have gone extinct from before. And guess what? |
| 1:52.7 | The oldest lake in the world is in Siberia. |
| 1:55.7 | It's Lake Baikal. |
| 1:57.1 | And it's also the deepest lake on earth. |
