Have we lost Great Britain?
As Christmas approaches I'm thinking about my mum and what she would make of this modern Britain. She died suddenly at Christmas when I was 12.
I'm now 64 but is the modern world really better than the Seventies? This is not just a nostalgia trip but a yearning for a lost world and a working class culture that seems to have been tossed aside in the name of progress and diversity.

| 0:54.7 | Now, I'm probably in this mood today. |

| 1:00.9 | One, I spoke to a very good friend of mine today about her child being run over and the police is inaction to it. |
| 1:09.1 | And also, it's the anniversary of my mother's death, a week on Tuesday. |
| 1:15.0 | She died on December the 9th. I was 12. Well, come on to that in a moment. So these two things, |
| 1:20.7 | and it's almost the same for me at Christmas. And this Christmas is quite poignant as well, |
| 1:25.6 | because as you know, I'm skint. |
| 1:28.1 | So I used to do Christmas. |
