Hey y'all, Sam here. Thank you so much for listening to my show with KCRW. I'm joining you from a post-Oskers-Haze.

The Academy Awards are basically my Super Bowl, and I got to say, it was a good game. I enjoyed the show. I enjoyed

Conan. I enjoyed that weapons montage and the Amy Madigan getting her flowers. I enjoyed seeing

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan win. I enjoyed watching Autumn Doral's Arkapaw make history

when she won for Best Cinematography for Sinners.

What I didn't enjoy, winners getting their speeches cut off happened a fair amount,

which is wild to me because the show is three and a half hours long.

They have the time.

K-pop Demon Hunters, a movie I loved, it won twice at this year's Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

But with both wins, the winners got played off by the orchestra before they could even finish saying their thank you's not fair.

I'd like to thank you.

The musician Mark Sondemblik helped write Golden, and he didn't get to talk on the big stage after his team's win for best song.

But he did get to speak backstage.

And that was really sweet.

Part of the movie is about looking at someone that you have been taught to hate and to fear and starting to trust, maybe even love them.

And that's part of what the movie is about. It's not I'm going up, up, up, it's we're going

up, up, and that's part of the reason that we're on stage right now. Before Mark won his Oscar this

past Sunday, he hung out with me in KCRW's Annenberg Performance Studio in Santa Monica.

He sat down at a big piano and talked me through how Golden came together.

I love this chat.
