Well, the history class we are going to have today is not going to make some people happy.

It's a matter of fact, it's going to make them downright angry.

Today's an anniversary.

It's an anniversary that I feel compelled to dive into

right here at the onset, a la history class. And I can tell you right now, the Marxists among us,

the socialists among us, they are not going to be happy with this history class. Because today's the day, my friends, in 1864, that Congress authorized something.

And it's something that these people despise.

They despise that it's foundational to our country.. Now again, it didn't happen until 1864,

almost 100 years later, really, then, you know, from the declaration, you know, 90, 90, do quick

math dean, I don't know, 92 years later, I don't know, the 80, I don't know. The 88, I don't know. You know,

you can do the math. 1864 from 1776. That's, I mean, I don't know. But Congress did

something here in 1864. And what they did is beautiful. It really truly is. And it speaks to what we

stand for as a country. It speaks to where our loyalties lie as a country. And almost it reaffirms what the declaration already prescribed for us.

Yesterday, we were talking about patriotism, as a matter of fact. And I read for you the closing lines of the Declaration

of Independence. I will read them for you again. And for support of this declaration, Jefferson said,

with a firm reliance on divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives,

our fortunes, and our sacred honor.

They pledge this to one another with a firm reliance on divine providence.

A firm reliance.

So it is foundational.

And Congress didn't really codify it until, you know, however many years later, 1864.
