Summary

This year has seen protests spread across the globe, from Latin America, to Hong Kong and the Middle East. While some have specific political origins within their own countries, others have similar characteristics; people fed up with inequality and corruption. We hear from Stephanie Hegarty, the BBC’s population reporter, about the tactics spreading from one protest to another, and why people are singing Baby Shark in Basra.

0:51.3	meet in Chile but as we'll hear in a bit that's one of the places where big street protests are happening.
0:57.0	So they shifted the whole thing to Spain at the last moment, and then today the conference gets hit with dozens of climate protesters.
1:04.0	They stage a sit in on the main stage.

1:09.0	Eventually, security step in and they start forcing the protesters out.
1:13.2	The people united will never be freedom.
1:18.2	The global protests have their origins in all sorts of problems, disputes, disagreements, not just climate.
1:25.7	But they seem to be linked, which is what Steph wanted to come and talk to us about.
