That's Leon McQuay the second. His son Leon McQuay the third was a sixth round draft choice by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL draft.

But before that, he was a prized recruit from Tampa, Florida.

Leon McQuay the third was a five star blue chip defensive back. Eventually he took his talents west to USC.

As you might have guessed, recruiting process was a process that most fans won't ever know.

I wish that they could do it themselves. Go through the whole process as far as from start to finish.

And they're making a decision to go to a particular school. If they could experience that, they'd have a totally different outlook on some of the stuff that they put on those blocks.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football. But it's also a bit of a mystery.

That process gets distorted through the lens of social media and message boards and sensationalized tales of boosters at $100.

And we know not everything is above board. But if only for this one exercise, let's focus on the real nuts and bolts from the player, parent, coach,

and media angles. Recruiting is a matter of priority on many fronts. If you're a coach, how do you choose to build your program?

As a parent, you want to do more listening than talking. You want to take notes. You want to, again, figure out what that institution is trying to get out of your kid, what the expectations are.

Leon isn't wrong. College football as a whole is more a business now than ever before. Every aspect of the game has gotten more coverage.
