Bitcoin's rallying, but can it continue?

I'm Luke Wilson in Fuliana Byrne. Good morning.

Bitcoin has been breaking records over the past week,

with the value of one now trading at more than $87,000,

almost doubling in value since January. It briefly broke through the $90,000 mark

yesterday after first passing $80,000 just two days before. So will it keep climbing or is it a blip?

Susanna Streeter is head of money and markets at Hargary's Lansdown and joins me now. Hi, Susanna.

Hello there, Luke. So what has Bitcoin been like so far this year up until the last week?

Well, certainly Bitcoin has been viewed as one of the Trump plays. There was an expectation

that if Donald Trump returned to the White House, he would have softened his stance on crypto

and certainly would be more pro the industry. So you did see crypto creep up. But of course,

the election result did appear uncertain. And when there was a resounding win for Trump,

a pretty seismic vote, you saw Bitcoin shoot up because of the promises and the pledges made on the campaign trail.

And also the fact that he had won a lot of support from those in the crypto industry, he had been talking at crypto events. And so some of his

supporters, some of those close to him and his inner circle have also indicated that a fresh

Trump term would be more beneficial for the industry. And give us an idea of the scale of the

rise we've seen in the last week.

And is that all down to Donald Trump's election?

I think what you've seen is this kind of meteoric rise is up 40% in the past month.

You've seen this really attributed to the fact that Donald Trump has won on such a resounding basis, given how tight the pulse

appeared to indicates. It's up 15% in just the last five days. Now, what we are expecting
