This week's question, question 29, week 29, is how can we be saved only by faith in Jesus Christ

and his substitutionary atoning death on the cross? So even though we are guilty of having

disobeyed God and are still inclined to all evil. Nevertheless, God without any

merit of our own, but only by pure grace imputes to us the perfect righteousness of Christ

when we repent and believe in Him. So the only way to be saved is by faith in Jesus Christ.

What is it about Jesus Christ? His substitutionary atoning death on the cross. His life, his death

is our substitute. It gets in the place of what you could not do. And it perfectly

covers you of past, present, and future sins against God. That's called atonement. What he did

perfectly satisfied the wrath of God, The righteous, wrath, the righteous,

justice wrath of God towards your sin. Christ's death and sacrifice covers that. There is no

forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. Jesus shed his blood.

Why Jesus? Because he is 100% God, 100% man. Only he could be the perfect sacrifice.

Remember I talked about atonement kind of being like, or not kind of being like, it's a great

picture of atonement when Noah gets in the

boat. And one of the things that God told Noah to do was to cover the entire boat, one of the

ingredients or one of the materials, to cover it in pitch and tar. Cover it so why? No water would get in the boat

when Noah and his family were inside you

know we watched a video with my kids of this Lego arc that someone made and they tried to see if it

would float and it did but it got a lot of water on the inside like the whole bottom layer of the

arc which it was this huge

Lego arc. It was covered in water. That didn't happen. Noah's Ark kept the water out. Why?
