Welcome to Getting Curious. This is Jonathan Van Ness. I'm so excited I cannot

handle my excitement for today. This is like a really relevant topic in my life. I'm

burgeoning with curiosity. We have a littoral doctor. And if you have been listening to

Getting Curious for some time, you know that I freak out for like a doctor. I mean, I freak out

for everybody, but really a doctor just takes me there. So welcome to the show. Dr. Sarah Elizabeth

Biosair, who is the director of the Thinking Dog Center at Hunter College, where she focuses

on studying the behavior and cognition of domestic dogs and other canads. Canads?

Yeah, you got it, canads. How can we don't say canines?

Well, we have different classifications. And so we can say canads when we're talking about things

that go beyond just domestic dogs. So like as a canad, like what are those other little things in

lying king? Like there's the three of them and they like they're, you know, they're kind of

best friends and they're kind of dog-ish. And they're hyenas aren't they?

Hyenas. So are those cats? I actually don't know. I'd have to go look it up, but really fun fact

about hyenas. Females have a pseudo penis. So that's kind of random. But that's literally the only

thing that I know about hyenas. I do not have to study them, but you should get a hyena expert

on this show. I didn't mean to go take such a hard left. I just, so with a canad like a wolf.

Yeah, so we have different types of classification systems. So when we think about canads, you can

think about things like wolves, you can think about things like dogs, you can think about things that
