| 0:17.0 | We're in the latter half of second Corinthians. And in the manual, this question comes up. |
| 0:22.0 | How have you found simplicity in Christ and his gospel? Because often, John, there's a lot, right? |
| 0:30.0 | As you get to know the scriptures and the church and the policies and doctrines, and it can be a little bit overwhelming at times. |
| 0:38.0 | But yet we're supposed to find simplicity in it. So how do you do that? |
| 0:42.0 | Well, we can get into our Sunday school classes or elders corn, whatever. And I really have some spirited discussions about this or that or so many principles, so many doctrines. |
| 0:51.0 | If only somebody would have just said, well, here's the first principles and ordinances of the gospel, right? Here's where you should start. |
| 1:00.0 | Thankfully, that went worth letter articles of faith, right? Joseph Smith says, here's the first principles. And I just love it. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, faith in Christ. |
| 1:11.0 | That is the first principle, second repentance. And then he gave us some ordinances. But when you get overwhelmed, go back to that. |
| 1:19.0 | How's my faith in Christ? And am I learning of him and listening to his words? I mean, thankfully he said that because it can be overwhelming. |
| 1:28.0 | I remember Elder Ustra talking about airplanes. You might remember Elder Ustra talking about airplanes at some time, John. |
| 1:35.0 | But he talked about turbulence. Do you remember this? He talked about turbulence. And he said often, the best thing to do when things get turbulent as a pilot is to slow down, right? Just slow down a little bit. |
| 1:47.0 | And I think that may be what we're talking about here to find simplicity and you're feeling overwhelmed, slow down a little bit and come back to basic beliefs. |
| 1:57.0 | I like what you brought up with the articles of faith, because you can start an article, faith one. I believe in God. Yeah. I believe in his son. I believe in the Holy Ghost. |
| 2:07.0 | I believe I can be saved through the atonement of Christ. |
| 2:11.0 | What's that? Be still, my soul. The Lord is on my side. That's faith in Christ. You're okay. I got you. Be still. Know that I am God. |
| 2:21.0 | All that other stuff will figure it out together. But start with first principles. I'm right here and I'm with you. |
| 2:27.0 | I love that, John. And we've talked about this many times on the podcast. The Lord says, my role is to save and I am mighty to say, so I could do my own work. |
| 2:38.0 | I'm pretty good at this job. You're not, but I am so rely on me because I got this. I got you. I got this. |
| 2:46.0 | And then try to learn all you can try to experience all you can, but come back to the idea that I say, I said, I hope that's a good answer. That's simplicity. |
