Summary

John and Shane field a question from a listener who is wondering how to not only build a theology of being fired, but how he can evangelize his friends to build a theology of being fired.

Shane then reads a question from a listener who responded to a BreakPoint podcast who was disappointed with how John approached dead naming. The piece was about Ellen Page, who now goes by Elliot Page. John provides and understanding for the listener, and shares his appreciation to handle relationships appropriately.

Finally, John responds to a question from a listener who desires to wrestle with racial issues, specifically in his church, without succumbing to Critical Race Theory.

Welcome to the Breakpoint podcast. In our Q&A segment, Ask the Colson Center. I'm Shane Morris, host of the upstream podcast and one of the writers here at Breakpoint. I'm joined by John Stone Street, president of the Colson Center and the voice of Breakpoint. Today, we're answering your questions. These submissions were sparked by Breakpoint commentaries, short courses, and the Colson Fellows program.

John, so many of the questions that we field on this weekly podcast are about what it means to live

0:35.1

as a Christian in a post-Christian environment.

One of the choices that we'll all likely face at some point sooner or later in the future

Rod Dreher's book. I was reminded of John's statement that we need a theology of getting fired.

1:17.3

My friend understands and believes this. Here's his question. How do you respond and relate to the

1:22.6

person in the church pew sitting next to you that does not believe this. We see this as a real conflict moving

1:28.8

forward. Christians of differing levels of conviction, friends and fellow believers worshiping together.

1:34.7

This is not a situation where the leadership of the church is progressive, and my friend is a

1:39.5

conservative believer. The leadership understands the problem and is leading and teaching

1:43.3

biblically. However,

1:44.5

we're very different in our level of conviction and our willingness to have consequences for our beliefs

1:49.8

and living out our faith. That's a tough question because it's hard to know what exactly is the

1:55.5

distinction here if the church is teaching biblically and what the consequences are. So let me

hit it from a couple
