In honor of the Anniversary of Humanae Vitae, I created a FREE three-part series titled: How Can Birth Control Be Wrong?

This is Part Two of a free three-part video class on the reasons behind the Catholic Church's teaching against contraception.
In this video, I explain the natural law reasoning behind the teaching. What is the natural law? (what rational beings must do to perfect their natures.) How easy is it to understand? (Yes!) Why does the Church rely on it if it's not something revealed by God in the Bible? (Because God does not need to reveal things in His Word that the human mind can grasp and obey.)
Why do couples refer to contraception as "protection"? Against what? (An innocent baby.)
Is this teaching ever going to change? (No—because it's true.)

Hey, welcome back to the second of a series of three videos on the Catholic

0:08.8

Church's teaching on contraception called how can birth control be wrong? This is part two of three.

0:14.4

In the first part I talked about the scriptural foundation for this teaching and

0:18.6

answered a couple of initial objections that most people have to the teaching. I mean, contraception

0:25.2

is just so embedded in our culture. It's presumed to be a wonderful blessing.

0:31.2

And if you're opposed to it, you have to be either a crazy Catholic or so badly

0:38.9

a Puritan that your vision of sex is that it's dirty and that you need to have less of it and therefore you need

0:47.2

contraception to remind you of how Icky it is. Well, the opposite is true. There's no higher, more exalted, healthier,

0:59.6

wholesome, balanced human appreciation for sexual intercourse than in the teaching of the Catholic

1:06.2

Church.

1:07.2

The church, as I mentioned in the first video, is scriptural in urging her children to just do it, starting in Genesis chapter 1,

1:16.7

verse 27 with the Be Fruitful and Multiply Commandment from God. That's really the first

1:22.4

commandment. So Catholics are

1:24.1

pro sex, pro erotic union, pro two and one flesh. We believe that fertility is a great gift and that God's plan of the two in one

1:35.4

flesh union that literally becomes a two in one flesh with the presence of the

1:41.7

child is at the heart of marriage.

1:45.0

That if you don't have the capacity for the Sex Act, you can't be married in the

1:48.4

Catholic Church. You can love another person. You can be in love with someone who has some physical impediment to completing the sex

1:58.2

act, which is ironic because the side that wants to forward and favor sexual license, people of

2:06.9

liberal progressive nature, they want to take the definition of marriage and

2:11.4

turn it into an emotional bond.

2:14.2

And Catholics insist, yeah, it's emotional, but it's also sexual.
