Between a quarter and a third of all Americans traveled somewhere over Labor Day weekend,

there are several new COVID variants out floating around.

Plus, it's been about a year since the last booster for most people.

People over 65 could have gotten one this spring, but pretty much everybody else was last fall.

And we know that the vaccine's effectiveness wanes substantially after four or five months,

and a year out, it's pretty minimal.

I mean, it might protect against serious illness and hospitalization,

but it's not going to keep you from getting the disease.

I think this will be an indication of what it's going to be like this winter when we hit

Thanksgiving and Christmas, you know, the holiday travel season.

The next two weeks might be a good time to stay out of public places if you're concerned about

getting COVID. If you're not, you know, what the heck?

Speaking for myself, I am. I'd rather not get COVID. Every time you get it, there's about a 10%

increase in the chance that you'll get long COVID, and that can be a crippling lifelong disability.
