Welcome into the next Pats podcast.

I'm Phil Perry.

We are going to have a rapid fire bullet point loaded podcast for you today

as we prepare here on this Wednesday for the first preseason game of the season for the New England

Patriots at Jolet Stadium against the Giants. We'll have a little bit on that. But first, I want to give

you a quick offensive progress report.

Here on Nextpats, we're always trying to figure out what's next.

It's not only with the players, although we like to focus on those guys.

It's on the schemes as well.

And if you listen to our podcast yesterday, the Patriots Talk podcast with Tom Cairn and

I, you would hear us both talk about Mac Jones and showing buy-in

and some leadership and why that's important. And I agree with all of that. And I have some more

on Mac Jones later, but I did want to just give you an update on how things actually looked

on the field when it comes to this new look offense.

As we've spoken about many times, it looks like one of the foundational pieces of this

offense moving forward will be this outside zone running scheme or wide zone running scheme

or these stretch runs. You might hear them called all of these different things. They mean

essentially the same thing.

I thought practice number 11 for the Patriots outside full pads on Tuesday was their best

practice as far as that stuff went on the ground at least.

We saw it early in an 11-on-11 scout team period.
