Hi John, Matt and Christine are both senior fellows at the American Enterprise Institute

and they are here with us today and every day to discuss the depredations of the Biden

Administration, a really remarkable story in the New York Times that broke yesterday afternoon

about the Biden Administration's effort to shoehorn legislative policy that it could

not get at the congressional level over the last two years into the CHIPS Act, which is the

bill that is an effort to incept or grow the domestic semi conductor industry with massive

government subsidies.

And apparently those subsidies Matt are going to have a lot of strings attached that were

not envisioned in the original legislation or the legislation, not original that actually

passed the House and Senate was signed by the president.

Right.

The story in the New York Times today, John, with by Jim Tankersley and Anna Swanson,

begins a semi conductor manufacturer seeking a slice of nearly $40 billion and new federal

subsidies will need to ensure affordable child care for their workers, limit stock buybacks,

and share certain excess profits with the government.

The new requirements they go on represent an aggressive attempt by the federal government

to bend the behavior of corporate America to accomplish its economic and national security
