I feel like throughout the summer we've been hearing two different stories about the

consumer in the state of them. On the one hand retail spending in July was

higher than expected so kind of pointing to signs of a healthy consumer. But on the

other hand we've heard stories from Starbucks and McDonald's and a number of other companies that consumers are tightening their wallets and really feeling high interest rates and other and are cracking down on discretionary spending as a result.
