| 0:37.1 | what drew you to this idea, this civic discourse initiative? |
| 0:41.3 | Well, we sort of looked around, I think, at the world |
| 0:45.3 | and decided that this polarization trajectory just is not sustainable. |
| 0:49.3 | And so many people now communicate and debate via social media |
| 0:53.3 | where there's really very little accountability. |
| 0:56.2 | We thought if we could bring people face to face, |
| 0:58.3 | you know, who they are, get rid of this anonymity, |
| 1:02.2 | and people would just sit down and actually |
| 1:03.4 | have discussions and conversations that maybe it might work. |
| 1:07.4 | And people could figure out, you know, |
| 1:08.6 | what I, sitting across the table from you, |
| 1:10.4 | I think I agree with you on more things than I thought I would. And I can see who you are. You're another human being. You're not, you know, you could be a chat bot from Russia for all, you know, if you're online. We just thought we wanted to make it simple, but have these venues and platforms and opportunities for people to come together. And how do you do it? How do you get people to engage face to face? |
