This week, we revisit our conversation with Matt Wolfe, director of Pee-E-S himself.

His Emmy-winning HBO documentary draws for more than 40 hours of interviews with the late Paul Rubens.

As viewers can see, getting at the man behind the beloved character was not always a walk in the park.

Some conflicts between us were genuinely interpersonal, but I would say most of it, that wasn't about me.

And I included these kind of barbed exchanges between us in the film because I felt like those really reflected Paul wrestling with himself and debating how much he was willing to show and share of his authentic self of the world.

Matt Wolfe explains how his interest in overlooked artists and forgotten stories led to his portrait of the man behind Pee Wee Herman.

He also talks about the actor's struggle with his sexuality and reveals why HBO pushed for a two-part series to tell the late actors story. But first we banter.

The indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel from his late-night show, Disney's decision to pull it after two companies, Next Star and Sinclair, which own a lot of ABC-affiliated stations, both said they would not run the show. And that came to be after Jimmy Kimmel said in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination, he said, we hit some new lows over the

weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk

as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points

from it. And he then went on to say that in between the finger pointing, there was a grieving,

and he played a tape of Trump being asked about Charlie Kirk and pivoting very quickly to the

new ballroom he's building at the White House. When those stations said they were pulling the show, that is very damaging economically

because, and at that point, Disney could no longer sell ads nationally for that show, but also

both of those companies, Sinclair and Next Star, have business pending before the federal

government.

And we've already seen Disney, which probably will have

business, too, cave when they settled this lawsuit involving George Stepanovolus for $16 million.
