Solomon closes the book of Ecclesiastes with these words. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.

Ecclesiases chapter 9, beginning in verse number 13, down to verse 18, the rest of

this chapter, says, this wisdom, have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me.

There was a little city, and few men within it, and there came a great

king against it and besieged it and built great bulwarks against it. Did you see the great contrast

here? You have a little city and few men on one side, and on the other side, a great king and great bulwarks.

You immediately think, well, this great king with his big army is going to overrun the little city. But then it says in verse 15, now there was found in it a poor, wise man. And he, by his
